Youth of the Year Winners

Congratulations to Brittni Moehring, Mason Morgan and Shelby Teagardner – Youth of the Year Winners!

Brittni Moehring has been selected by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania as the Joe Gordon, Youth Volunteer of the Year.

Brittni Moehring has been a member of the Carnegie Boys & Girls Club for eleven years.  During that time, Brittni has volunteered in many programs at the club including sporting events, arts and craft classes and summer camp counseling.  Notably, she is instrumental in the many aspects of fundraising sponsored by the Board of Directors.

Currently a junior at Carlynton High School where she maintains a 3.5 QPA, Brittni is studying classes preparing her for college entrance. Brittni would like to study in the medical field as an Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist.   She has secured a position as the Assistant to the Carlynton High School Athletic Trainer for her senior year.

Brittni is very involved in her high school activities playing softball, volleyball and performing in all the musicals. She is also the Manager for the high school wrestling team.


Mason Morgan has been selected by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania as the Eat’ N Park Hospitality Group Dapper Dan Charities Youth Athlete of the Year.

Mason has been a Club member of the Carnegie Boys & Girls Club for the past 9 years. During that time, he has been active as a player and coach in the Club’s basketball, floor hockey, flag football and golf programs. Noted for his leadership capabilities, he has been named captain on several of the teams and is known by all as a “team player” and a true sportsman.

Mason attends Chartiers Valley High School and is in the 9th grade where he is an honors student, member of the National Honor Society, student council vice president and a member of the J.V. football team. He has also been a member of several “Gifted Student Academic Bowls” competing with other local school. One of Mason’s teachers notes that he is an “exemplary” student“persevering in both the classroom and in extracurricular school activities”.

Shelby Teagardner has been selected as Carnegie Boys & Girls Club,  Youth of the Year.

Shelby has been a member of the Carnegie Boys & Girls Club for 10 years.  In the seventh grade, Shelby began volunteering at the Club in the gym and computer lab.  She has played Dapper Dan Sports – flag football, basketball and hockey every year since she was seven.  At age 13, Shelby started coaching and now coaches six teams across basketball, hockey and flag football.

Shelby volunteers at the Club approximately 75-100 hours per year.  Lou Trombetta, Assistant Executive Director and Sports Director, has stated that Shelby is the best role model he has seen in his 27 years with the Boys & Girls Club.

Currently a senior at Chartiers Valley High School, Shelby is a honor roll student and is involved in many clubs and activities including three years on the girl’s lacrosse team.  Shelby maintains a GPA of 3.66 and plans on attending CCAC focusing on a career in the Veterinarian field.

Shelby is active in her church as an acolyte and has volunteered for the Scott Township Recreation Center.
