Greentree Rotary Book Fair April 20

On April 20, the official end to Boys & Girls Club Week, Green Tree Rotary held a book fair at the Carnegie Boys & Girls Club.

Over 1,200 books were spread out over more than 10 tables, sorted by grade levels kindergarten through sixth grade.

Each book had a sticker inside stating that it was donated by Green Tree Rotary; the Four-Way Test was also imprinted on the sticker.

The children happily browsed through the books, each placing several in their bag, and excitedly comparing their “finds” with their friends.

They were exceptionally well-behaved, and many came to thank us personally for the books.  Some said they have never had a book of their own.

Barb Bennett, Literacy Chair for Green Tree Rotary, collects several thousand books from various libraries all year, then holds book fairs at local schools and organizations.

In addition to Barb, Rotarians Rick Porach, Dan Riegner and Sandra Rebholz helped with setting up the books and assisting the children with their selections.
